English

The Everyday Journeys of Ordinary Things

Children have the opportunity to consider the world around them and the processes that occur every day. They will write a chronological explanation of an everyday thing.

Everest

The children will delve into the remarkable story of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay and write an account of another significant exploration

River of Stories: Tales from across the Commonwealth

Children will explore myths and legends from countries across the Commonwealth and will write stories in the same style.

A kind of Spark

The children will be able to dip into their creative minds, in narrative writing of different forms. They also have an opportunity to think more empathetically about people with neurodiversity.

Blackberry Blue

Narrative writing, based upon fairy tales and myths. They will get the chance to tap into their creative sides again.

Play

The children will get the chance to practice their presentation skills. Mastering intonation and using their tone to suit the role.

Maths

Calculating with decimal fractions

  • Multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1,000.
  • Use known facts and place value to multiply and divide decimal fractions.
  • Apply understanding to solve measurement and word problems.

Factors, primes and multiples

  • Understand and calculate the volume of cuboids and compound shapes using appropriate units.
  • Explore cube numbers, square numbers, factors, multiples, primes and efficient strategies for multiplication.
  • Apply knowledge of volume and number properties to solve problems and explain reasoning.

Fractions

  • Multiply fractions and find fractions of quantities using mental and written methods.
  • Compare, represent and find equivalent fractions and decimals in different contexts.
  • Apply understanding of fractions and decimals to solve problems and reason mathematically.

Converting Units

  • Convert between metric units and between metric and imperial units using known facts.
  • Use fraction and decimal equivalents to solve measure problems.
  • Apply understanding to time, distance, and reallife measurement contexts.

French

Vikings and Clothes

I can recognise the gender of nouns and use the correct determiners.

I can use adjectives and make sure these agree with the nouns described.

I can use my knowledge of cognates to help me decode unfamiliar language.

Manger et bouger

  • I can learn the nouns for healthy and unhealthy foods and drinks.

PE

Athletics

  • Applying input, processing and outputs related to senses, for example a step counter.

PSHE

Health and Wellbeing

  • Understand how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including good sleep, hygiene, diet, physical activity, and oral care.
  • Learn about physical and emotional changes during puberty and how to manage them with confidence and care.
  • Explore the safe use of medicines, the risks of legal drugs, managing illness, infection, and how to respond in emergencies, including basic first aid.
